Diabetic Retinal Screening at Coton & Hamblin

Diabetic Retinopathy is the major cause of visual impairment in working UK adults. Two million people in the UK have diabetes. Coton & Hamblin helps diagnose diabetes related retinopathy early. This greatly enhances the effectiveness of treatment.

Diabetic? Get Screened. Catch Problems Early.

All diabetic patients are eligible for free annual retinopathy screening & sight tests.
Coton & Hamblin is an official NHS screening centre for Greenwich & Bexley PCT.

How does it work? Screening is performed in addition to routine eyesight tests. We use special photographic equipment, installed at our South London branches, to generate very detailed images of your eye. Your Coton and Hamblin Optometrist analyses these images to determine eye health.

For free testing your GP should register you as a diabetic with the Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley PCT (Primary Care Trust), South London.
The PCT can be contacted on 020 8776 3854.

If you would like a sight test on the same day as your screening, you will need to contact us with your appointment date. Whenever possible, we will perform your sight test on same day.

Not Registered Diabetic? Coton & Hamblin offer our private digital photography service to all patients. Please contact us for more information.
